Kids love things that go pop!

The Lowdown on Popcorn
How good is popcorn!! Is it really???
Except the Bad Stuff…
Now I'm not talking about the stuff you buy at the movies. A recent article showed that this popcorn contains possible carcinogens (yes the things that are thought to cause cancer) Almost all popcorn you buy from the movies are made using microwavable heat sources. The heat from the bags can break down into a substance called perfluorooctanoic (PFOA). The Environmental Protection Agency has identified PFOA as a “likely carcinogen.”
A second potential danger in microwave popcorn is diacetyl, a chemical found in the fake butter flavouring and is found in almost all popcorn. This one substance contains 48 sub chemicals. This can cause a huge range of health problems the very minor ones being behavioural issues in children.
Basically movie popcorn is BAD NEWS… and we feed this to our kids? Take your own to the movies that are made naturally.
Some good popcorn news!
So now time to learn to make the healthy stuff! Then it can be delicious and nutrient rich. Buying organic popcorn is super important because almost all non-organic is genetically modified meaning you don't know which genes it actually contains. You might be eating popcorn with cow stomach genes. Um no thanks. Plus if it's non organic it's heavily sprayed with chemicals and pesticides which are also known carcinogens.. (yuk, double no thanks)
Healthy Fat
Cooking popcorn in healthy fats can nourish both children's and adults bodies and who does not like things that go POP! So here's how you do it…
Ingredients
Directions
In a glass top pan put coconut oil and popcorn (glass top helps so you don't get hit in the eye from flying popcorn if you want to have a sneak peek to see it cooking!) Popcorn injuries ain't pretty…
When cooked sprinkle with Salt, Nutritional Yeast & vital veggie powder
Add knob of butter (or more coconut oil - macadamia oil works too)
Start making more as your kids will ask for seconds.Popcorn rocks!!

Could I ask how you recommend cooking the popcorn please. Thanks
Usually around 5 minutes. You will know once all the kernels have popped 🙂
